MAH-CET 2020 – Application Process, Schedule, Eligibility, Pattern, Syllabus, Admit Card, and Result

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra conducts the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH-CET) on an annual basis for admission to various courses offered by the participating colleges in the state of Maharashtra. Admission can be taken into courses such as B.Tech., B.Pharm., LLB, MBA, MMS, MCA, etc.

However, this article will focus only on the B.Tech. course. The entrance examination for B.Tech. course is also known as MHT-CET. So, candidates interested in pursuing B.Tech. from any colleges in Maharashtra must check out the eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, application process, and other details related to the MAH-CET exam in this article.

MAH-CET 2020 Important Dates

Here is the tentative schedule for MAH-CET 2020 as per the 2019 schedule:

MAH-CET 2020 Eligibility

Nationality

Candidate must be Indian national.

Age Limit

There is no age limit for the exam.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed class 12th or equivalent examination with Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects and any one of the Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, or vocational subjects from a recognized board. Those who will be appearing in the class 12th board examination in the year of the common entrance test are also eligible for the test.

The minimum marks required in the qualifying examination are 50% aggregate for General category and 45% for SC/ST/OBC category.

Important Note: Foreign National, Children of NRI/OCI/PIO, children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries are exempted from the MAH-CET exam. They can get direct admission into the B.Tech program with their qualifying marks.

MAH-CET 2020 Application Process

The application process for the MAH-CET is carried out online through the official website. The application process can be completed in four steps:

  • Registration
  • Completing Application Form
  • Uploading Images
  • Fee Payment
  • Go to the official MHT-CET website. The link will be provided in the MAH-CET 2020 official notification. The link for 2019 exam is – https://mhtcet2019.mahaonline.gov.in/.
  • Click on the link to apply and provide details asked for registration.
  • On successful registration, a registration number and password will be generated. These will be your login details.
  • Login using the details and complete the remaining application form.
  • Upload the scanned images of your recent passport size photograph and signature. The specifications for the scanned images are: File size of the photograph must be between 15 KB to 50 KB and of signature between 5 KB to 20 KB. The scanned images must be in ‘JPG’ format.
  • Once the images are uploaded successfully, check the complete application form carefully. Please note that no changes will be allowed in the application form once the application fee is paid.
  • Make payment of the application fee through your preferred mode.
  • Once the fee payment is successful, take a print of the completed online application form.

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay the application fee as per their category. The fee payment can be done through online mode or using challan system/Mobile Wallets. The service charges for the transaction are to be paid by the candidate. The MAH-CET Application fee is NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE.

MAH-CET 2020 Exam Pattern

 

MAH-CET is conducted for various courses and the pattern for all courses is different. The exam pattern provided here is for B.Tech/B.Pharm. courses. The exam will comprise of 3 papers and each paper will be of total 90 minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes) duration. The question paper will comprise of multiple choice questions from the following sections:

There will be NO NEGATIVE MARKING in the examination. Paper-1 will be in the English only and Paper-2 and Paper-3 will be in English, Marathi, or Urdu. Candidates are required to opt for one language while filling the application form. There will be no provisions for changing the examination language after submission of the application form.

 

Please Note: For B.Tech. courses, candidates have to appear only for Paper-1 and Paper-2 i.e. Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. However, those seeking admission in B.Pharm. Course have to appear for Paper-1 and Paper-2 and/or Paper-3.

 

MAH-CET 2020 Syllabus

 

The questions in the question paper are set from class XI and Class XII syllabus. Entire syllabus of class XII is considered for the entrance exam and a few topics of class XI are considered. So, here we are listing the topics from class XI syllabus for each subject:

 

Mathematics: Trigonometric functions, Trigonometric functions of Compound Angles, Straight Line, Circle and Conics, Factorization Formulae, Sets, Relations and Functions, Probability, Sequences and series.

 

Chemistry: Some basic concepts of chemistry, Redox reaction, States of matter: Gases and liquids, Nature of chemical bond, Surface chemistry, Hydrogen, s-Block elements (Alkali and alkaline earth metals), Alkanes, Basic principles and techniques in organic chemistry.

 

Physics: Measurements, Force, Scalars and Vectors, Friction in solids and liquids, Refraction of Light, Ray optics, Magnetism, Magnetic effect of electric current.

 

Biology:

Botany – Biochemistry of cell, Diversity in organisms, Plant Water Relations and Mineral Nutrition, Plant Growth and Development.

Zoology – Organization of Cell, Human Nutrition, Animal tissues, Human Respiration.

 

MAH-CET 2020 Admit Card

 

The admit card for the MAH-CET is uploaded at the official website. Candidates can download the admit card using their log-in ID and password within the prescribed time. The admit card is necessary for making entry to the examination hall. Without admit card, candidates will not be allowed to appear for the MAH-CET exam. So, download it on time and do not forget to carry it to the examination venue along with a valid Photo ID proof in original.

 

MAH-CET 2020 Result

 

The MAH-CET result will be  also be uploaded at the official website as per the schedule. Before the declaration of result, provisional answer key, question papers, and scanned images of candidates’ response sheets will also be uploaded at the official website. Candidates can check their result using their login ID and password. Download the scorecard and keep it for future reference.

 

MAH-CET 2020 Counselling

After the announcement of the result, online counselling process will be conducted for seat allotment. Candidates are required to register for the counselling process and lock their choices for colleges. Students have to physically appear for the document verification process. And, after the document verification, merit list will be released and seat allotment will be done according to the merit list. Candidates are required to accept the alloted seat and report to the allotted college for completing the admission process.
